Trip to GNP ; Part II : Wildlife in Glacier National Park
How many different types of animals did you see when you travelled in
Glacier National Park? We were lucky
enough to see bears, white tail deers, mountain goats and bighorn sheeps. What
we learnt from our experience is you have to either start early in morning or
stay tuned till late evening to see those beautiful
animals. In our case both happened because we wanted to do camping every day of
our stay and it’s hard to reserve online if you have planned your trip at the very
last minute. So we opted for First Come First Serve. Every campground in
Glacier National Park has half of their campsites available on FCFS but you
have to be there really early to get a site. For example, our first preference
was St. Mary Campground while we were travelling from East Glacier towards
Logan Pass which was kind of impossible to get as it was very popular and our
trip was on federal holiday weekend. So our next preference was Rising Sun
Campground where we reached around 7.30 am and the car in queue just before us
got the last available campsite. So on next day we were in queue at 4.30 in the
morning which was not really a problem because we had to sleep in car last
night and trust me you will not regret it when you will woke up with the view
of Sunrise in mountains. Besides you might see beautiful bighorn sheeps or
mountain goats around you if you choose to park your car at Logan Pass Visitor
Center. CRAAAAZY!!! Isn’t it!! I am not
recommending anyone doing that. But that’s how we did it. Most of the campsites
are with restrooms and no shower. Bigger campsites have showers; check
beforehand or you can opt for Pay showers ($7-$10). All the hotels and motels
have better arrangements, they range from $75 - $400 or above. You have options
for Airbnb or VRBO. Back to animals, they are beautiful. We took some pictures
have a look.
P.S. Always carry bear
spray!!! It’s expensive but you can find good deals online. Renting at GNP can
be another option.
Are these two different kinds ? Not sure !!! |
